The Sun in the Wood is a great venue for celebration parties.

We also have a fantastic 9 hole crazy golf course in our woodland garden, and this makes for a great BBQ party event, without breaking the bank.  

The Privilege Club

Are you a member of The Sun in the Wood Privilege Club? Getting a Privilege card is simple and it is free.

All you need to do is visit us on four occasions in a three month period. You will then get your gold Privilege Club Card.

You can then use this on all future visits and save towards receiving your £20 Privilege Club vouchers.

Wine Pub of the Year for the third time

The quality & choice of wine we offer to our customers has always been very important to us and we are pleased to offer 15 great wines by the glass from our “Wines from around the world menu”.

These are all personally selected by Philip & Lauren with the help of some very discerning and valued customers at the blind wine tasting we hold anually to discover new wines and to make sure our current wines are still drinking well.

Wine Pub of the year for an amazing third time

We celebrated winning the prestigious Wadworth wine pub of the year award for an unbelievable third time in six years by  hosting a celebration charity wine tasting and BBQ evening and raised £250 for Cancer Research UK.

What made the evening even more unique was that a gold medal wine maker flew in from New Zealand for the event. John Buchanan and his daughter Amy own the family run, gold medal award winning, Mount Riley vineyard in the heart of  Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Country in New Zealand and were keeping a promise made to Philip and Lauren, when they visited New Zealand..

Philip & Lauren, had the pleasure of meeting John & Amy in the vineyard at Mount Riley when visiting  family in New Zealand. Philip said, “We had the real treat of the Head Winemaker Bill “Digger” Hennessey, showing us how this  wine is really produced and we enjoyed some great Kiwi hospitality, a BBQ lunch and an opportunity to sample the fantastic Mount Riley wines with the Buchanan family and the Vineyard team. We invited John and his Daughter Amy to visit us, and they said they would like to. So it was fantastic that during their brief visit to the UK for The London International Wine Fair, they were able to join us to help celebrate our third wine pub of the year award.”
